The Salamanca Area Chamber of Commerce invites you to explore and experience the many opportunities to expand your knowledge and intuition through enlightenment at our Psychic Readings Weekend, Mar. 5-7. Choose to see one of our many Lily Dale, or Lily Dale trained, mediums and spiritualists for your personal half-hour reading.
We are pleased to have Salamanca ’s own Michael Cricks, an Aura Reader and Spiritualist, participating in this great event. Cricks has been providing public readings for over twenty-seven years. We are also honored to have another phenomenal Spiritualist, Reverend George Kincaid, from Lily Dale. Kincaid believes, as the basis of his religion, in the continuity of life and in individual responsibility. Most spiritualists endeavor to find the truth in all things and to live their lives in accordance therewith.
Other local favorites are Michele Harvey-Heusinger, Pam Sekula, and Devonia “Dee” Smith. Heusinger is a Psychic, Medium and Palm Reader. In addition to her palmistry, she is a licensed holistic therapist and will be offering chair massages to those who sign up. Sekula is a Psychic and Tarot Master, who has thirty years of experience, great intuitive powers and a plain talking delivery which makes her your go-to gal for clarity and encouragement. Smith’s specialty is Master Tarot Reader. You do not want to miss seeing any one of these ladies as they use their palmistry and tarot cards in a way that has been practiced all over the world as inspiration or divination for centuries.
Dolores Sedler, a Spiritual Writer, will also be joining us. Automatic writers, such as Sedler, have learned to wait quietly and patiently and then give in to the slightest impulse to move the pen or pencil. Find out what your relatives have to say to you as she uses her skills to write the messages being sent your way from your loved ones.
Another of our guests is Sandy Caswell, Psychic and Life Coach. Caswell has been featured on television and radio, in newspapers and magazines. She has several published articles and is a regular contributor to the Psychic Observer. For over thirty years, she has provided support to individuals regarding issues, glimpses of the future and immediately applicable advice by integrating psychic impressions with traditional counseling skills and a great sense of humor.
The Psychic Readings Weekend will be held at the Historic Dudley Hotel, located at 132 Main Street , Salamanca , Mar. 5-7. The hours for readings are Friday 3 p.m.-8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. To make an appointment for your favorite medium or spiritualist, contact the Salamanca Area Chamber of Commerce at 716/945-2034 or 716/353-2592. Walk-ins will be welcomed if appointment times are available. Come and hear all about your future!

The Salamanca Chamber of Commerce presents this year’s boxing competition brought to you by The Knockout Factory, who will put on a spectacular U.S.A. Amateur Boxing Competition on Saturday night, October 3 at the 32nd Annual Falling Leaves Festival. This event is sponsored by Seneca Gaming and Entertainment and will feature several exciting bouts, a top name boxing announcer and the famous “Knockout Factory Knockouts” round card girls. The competition is FREE to the public and will start at 6:00 p.m.
The Knockout Factory, located at the top of South Main Street in Salamanca is the largest boxing and mixed martial arts facility in Western New York . All of the coaches have attained their Level 2 Certification and are former fighters themselves. The facility contains a 20’ x 20’ professional boxing ring, a mixed wrestling and martial arts cage, a weight area and speed bag area, an equipment wall, a matted area for mixed martial arts and a mirrored wall for fine tuning skills. The gym, which is owned and operated by Mike ‘Snake’ Tome, opened in 2001 and is free and open to the public.
On any given night, there will be several local kids gearing up for a competition, whether it’s a regional boxing competition, weight lifting competition, or an out of state mixed martial arts competition. Mike said, “I like to be sure these kids are both physically and mentally prepared for their competitions. The workouts teach them many things, not just about fighting, but about life in general. We can get kids off the couch and off the streets and have them do something productive that will teach them valuable life lessons.”
These lessons have paid off for those individuals as the Knockout Factory’s combined fight record in 2008 stood at 100 wins and only 27 losses, as well as numerous trophies and gym awards. Mike has had his share of champions come out of the gym. Charlie Fitzsimmons was the 2006 heavyweight Ringside World Champion and is devoted to a training regimen at the Factory. The Knockout Factory has also had contenders and winners in mixed martial arts bouts in Ohio , and Mike routinely takes fighters across the country to compete in national events.
Mike Tome is no stranger to boxing and the martial arts, “I’ve been involved with boxing and the martial arts all my life. I grew up watching Muhammad Ali and I’ve always been involved in fighting of some form.” He has attended professional judging and referee seminars and certification classes given by the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC). The ABC provides a forum for State and Tribal Athletic Commissions from across the U.S. and Canada to set up national, organized regulations, certify referees and judges, and establish ratings criteria. These classes are meant to teach the basic fundamentals of judging and refereeing, ensure the health and safety of the fighter and preserve the integrity of the sport.
Mike says, “Since opening my gym I have been diligently educating myself and several Knockout Factory coaches in the complexities of regulating professional combat sports. We are now certified to officiate fights in any tribal or state jurisdiction in the U.S.A. but our focus is to bring professional boxing and mixed martial arts to our local area. The Knockout Factory gym is open to the public and is free of charge from 6:00pm-8:30pm Monday through Friday. Certified coaches are available for instruction. They can be reached at 716-945-3560. “The creation of a safe environment for youth to come to is very important to me.”
One of the most successful events held by the Knockout Factory was at the 29th Annual Falling Leaves Festival in 2006. It was deemed a huge success, drawing upwards of 2,000 people. This is a show you don’t want to miss, so mark your calendar to see the fights on Saturday, October 3 at 6:00 p.m. For more information and a complete schedule of events for the 32nd Annual Falling Leaves Festival, please contact the Salamanca Area Chamber of Commerce at 716-945-2034 or visit us on-line www.salamancachamber.org. See you there!
This year Salamanca is celebrating its 32nd Annual Falling Leaves Festival. In late1975, members of various Salamanca fraternal and service organizations were concerned that civic pride was declining and decided to form a committee to rectify the situation, so Paul D. Formica, with his wife Sandra, formed a committee which was called the Salamanca Positive Action Committee (SPAC). The mission was to develop ideas to restore civic pride, improve the look of Main Street and attract new businesses to the area. One of the ideas the SPAC discussed was holding a festival in the fall, which became known as the Falling Leaves Festival.
The first Falling Leaves Festival was created and produced September 30-October 3, 1976 and was held in multiple locations; food concessions and entertainment were in Jefferson Street Park , art & craft and civic vendors were located at old City Hall and in the Mall, and a dance was held right in the middle of Jefferson Street . Through the years, the festival has taken on different shapes and colors. Rosie Hoag, who was President of the Salamanca Area Chamber of Commerce Chamber in the early 1990’s, recalls that, “People worked hard all year long to put on the festival and that’s what accounted for its success.” SPAC organized the event for its first seven years and then turned it over to the Salamanca Area Chamber of Commerce. In the early 1990’s, the City of Salamanca managed the festival until it was again turned back over to the Chamber, which is still managing the event today. The Chamber is confident that this year’s festivities will be as spectacular and memorable and the first year was.
The Salamanca Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking to make the 32nd Annual Falling Leaves Festival just as successful as it was back in 1976. The festival has been brought back to Jefferson Street Park by popular demand and will be jam packed with exciting things to do every minute. This event filled weekend will feature many art & craft vendors, local favorite musical groups and disc jockey, several radio station live remotes with on-air personalities and the spectacular Falling Leaves Car Show and Cruise-In on Main Street . In the Kid’s Zone you will find amusement rides, carnival games, Morton’s Petting Zoo and Pony Rides, Eric the Caricaturist, a the Balloon Man. Do not forget about coming to watch the hilarious Bed Races, Hot Dog and Hula Hoop contests. One of the crowd favorites is always the USA Amateur Boxing Competition. This year’s Fists of Fury II will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The competition will feature several exciting bouts, a top name boxing announcer and the famous “Knockout Factory Knockouts” round card girls. Of course, the highlight of the weekend will be the Falling Leaves Grande Parade. The parade will include the Mayor of Salamanca, Pow Wow Princess, the Falling Leaves Queen and her court, mounted law enforcement, floats, marching bands, National Guard units, youth dance groups and much much more!
You will not want to miss all the excitement of the 32nd Annual Falling Leaves Festival! For more information and a complete schedule of events for the weekend, please contact the Salamanca Area Chamber of Commerce at 716-945-2034 or visit us on-line at www.salamancachamber.org.

The annual evetns was held on June 6th 20009 this year. Many people made the event possible. This year we had more people in attendance the previous years. This year was the first year that beer was also offered to be tasted. Beer tasting was provided by Salamanca Area Beverage Co. Again this year, Liberty Winery and Vineyards was on location for the tasting of the wine. The musical performance was done by Take 2. So far we have received great feedback from the online survey we sent out: To take it, please click here.
